Thursday hw
Know the law of conservation of mass and the notes that we took on them.
Can you predict the products if it is a double or single replacement reaction.
Thursday, December 12, 2013
read chapter 10
learn how to change moles to grams and grams to moles. There will be a quiz on formula masses.
Wednesday, December 11, 2013
Wed dec 11
Students that are out must make up a quiz on classification of chemical reactions. Also you must read chapter 10-1 on the mole.
Tuesday, December 3, 2013
Friday, November 15, 2013
read chapter 8 molecular shape.
Make a flash card of all the shapes and an example of each on the back.
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
Tuesday, November 5, 2013
molecular covalently bonded substances
Read the rest of the chapter on molecular covalently bonded substances. How are they named, how do they form? What properties do they have?
Monday, October 28, 2013
Friday, October 25, 2013
Retest on chapters 2-6 on Monday
Do the two worksheets on the periodic table. Be ready to redo the ORQ also.
Tuesday, October 22, 2013
oct 23
Test tomorrow. chapters 2-6
We did not go over trends in our review, but it was the last thing we went over, review it please. You should know th periodic trends for both groups (vertical) and periods(across).
Friday, October 18, 2013
Weekend hw
Finish reading chapter 6. Do the Periodic trends sheet, The whole thing if you were not here yesterday, and the bottom if you completed the top half before. Make sure both halves are done for Monday.
Know the names of the different groups, blocks and be able to identify the numbered periods. Test is coming up on Tuesday.
Wednesday, October 16, 2013
Tuesday, October 15, 2013
TUESDAY HOMEWORK
memorize periodic trends
Quiz on trends...I give you elements from the same period or group and you tell me which has the most or least elcetronegativity, ionization energy, atomic radius, ionic size.
Then we do the lab on reactivity of the alkaline metals, but we also use evidence from the video we saw to compare reactivity in the same period.
Wednesday, October 9, 2013
oct 9
Oopa! Chapter 5.1 and 5.2, take notes on both. Come in prepared.
Also Have a written definition from the book for the following vocab from 5-3:
Atomic radius
Ionic size
ionization energy
Electron affinity
Electronegativity
Tuesday, October 8, 2013
oct 8
Read 6.1 and 6.2, Who helped design the periodic table. Why put the periodic table in columns and rows and not just a list?
Monday, October 7, 2013
Thursday, October 3, 2013
Tuesday, October 1, 2013
Be prepared to do the next row of elements from atomic # 11-18
Find the numbers of protons, neutrons and electrons for Atomic numbers 11-18.
Know the difference between and ion, isotope and an element.
Friday, September 27, 2013
Finish reading c 3 and have sec 1, 2 review questions done
matching quiz on the contributors to the structure of the atom on Monday.
Wednesday, September 25, 2013
post lab
How can you prove if a liquid is a homogeneous mixture or a heterogeneous mixture?
What are the different separation techniques you used?
Tuesday, September 24, 2013
quiz wednesday on physical and chemical properties and changes
Quiz on physical properties and physical changes vs. chemical properties and chemical changes. Bring chapt 2 review questions to class tomorrow.
Friday, September 20, 2013
for Monday
Do the physical property vs chemical properties and on the back Physical changes vs chemical changes. Remember that a chemical change also changes the formula of a substance into a different substance. Ex. Water freezes but is still H2O. Water combines with SO2 to become sulfuric acid, H2SO4. If it has a new formula then it is a chemical change.
There will be a quiz at the end of the class Tuesday on classes of matter and physical/chemical properties or changes.
Tuesday, September 17, 2013
test wednesday
test is tomorrow. Finish the review sheet. The test is like the questions I gave you and on techniques used in the lab. Review accuracy and precision. Remember measuring techniques. How to graph knowns and unknowns using a bar graph. Calculating percent error. Have you conversions and process cards if you need them. You must use a calculator and not your ipad!!!!!! Bring in a calculator. Good luck.
Friday, September 13, 2013
9 13 13
if you did not finish the lab do so this weekend. There will be a quiz monday on dimensional analysis and significant figures. There will be a test on Tuesday.
Thursday, September 12, 2013
9 12 13
Write up the density of an unknown metal lab tonight. Haikudeck can be used. If you have trouble with charts and graphs then draw them with ruler and take a screen shot if necessary. Follow the steps in the rubric, but includes six observations as well (also include the date the observations were taken.
Tuesday, September 10, 2013
Read and review the notes on accuracy and precision and know what each mean.
There will be a quiz on dimensional analysis and we will have a lab on density,(review that in the book too) when I get a hold of more supplies for it.
Tuesday, September 3, 2013
Friday, August 30, 2013
8 30 13
OOPS! forgot to give the quiz on the first twenty elements during the last few minutes of class. Tuesday it will be the first thing we do when we get into class. Also Read Chapter 1 in the text. Enjoy your Labor day weekend.

cover book, write name inside cover.
You must get a 100% on this quiz on Friday. You can retake it as many times as necessary!
